Our Event Venue’s Humble Beginnings
In search of a place for women built by women, our business owners decided to establish The Woman’s Building on March 4, 1925. Through a series of fundraising events, loans, and donations, we were able to construct and furnish the building in September 1925. On October 5, 1935, a decade after the dedication of the building, the three organizations met for a very joyous occasion—the burning of the notes—and the building was debt-free. Our events place now stands as a monument to the dedicated women who saw and fulfilled the need for their fellow women to have a safe, well-maintained rental space.
